News on Norwich Priory

A summary of the meeting held on 15 June to discuss the proposed Norwich Zen Buddhist Priory.

The Norwich meditation group has been raising funds with the hope of starting a temple since the mid 1990's.  This year the request for a temple in Norwich was made to RM Haryo (the head of the Order).

Rev. Leoma, as the prospective Norwich Prior, talked about how she envisaged a priory functioning. The plan is to provide a full programme of weekly events. In addition, the Priory will be open for members of the Sangha to drop in when convenient. By providing a varied programme and the opportunity to visit outside of set events, Sangha members will have the chance to find a way of using the Priory that works for them.

Rev. Leoma will be able to make more frequent visits to the us as the Cambridge Meditation Group.

The timescale that was suggested was that in late August Rev. Leoma hoped to be able to stay in Norwich for a while, so that she and the working party could start to look for a suitable property to rent as a priory.
